Protus Founders Receive Prestigious Alumni Award from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa
Joseph Nour and Simon Nehme recognized for excellence in innovation.
Ottawa - June 9, 2005 - Protus IP Solutions today announced that company co-founders, Joseph Nour, chief executive officer, and Simon Nehme, chief technology officer, are recipients of the 2005 Alumni Award of Excellence from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa.
Established six years ago, the award is presented every year to engineering alumni who have distinguished themselves professionally or in the service of society at large. It is also a statement of appreciation; to recognize the contribution of alumni to society and to recognize their contribution to raising faculty profile.
Nour and Nehme met in first year engineering at the University of Ottawa, and have been friends and colleagues ever since. The two founded Protus IP Solutions in 1997 after discovering their common entrepreneurial spirit.
"Simon and I are honoured to be named recipients of this prestigious award," says Nour. "In the years that we have worked together we have been able to build a company with employees that share our drive to provide unparalleled service and innovative solutions to our customers. We expect to continue developing the company and our people in the same way well into the future - by focusing on the success and growth of our customers."
Due to rapid company growth, Protus expects employee count to increase by 30 per cent in 2005.
"The reputation of our faculty is built on the achievements of our alumni," says Dr. Emil Petriu, acting-dean of the faculty of engineering. "Joseph and Simon are both individuals that embody the true spirit of our faculty and demonstrate our mission for innovation and responsibility towards society."
